In 2018, Pedott sold Joseph Enterprises to NECA, the National Entertainment Collectibles Association , which continues to distribute the Chia Pet and the Clapper. An abridged version of this article appears in the January 2024 print issue as “The Sound of Two Hands Clapping.” Pedott died last year at the age of 91.
