When people think about innovation related to tech and AI, Silicon Valley is normally the first place people think of; and there’s good reason for this. Countless startups and major tech giants have gotten their footing here. It’s no wonder as its history of innovation in technology and AI can be traced back to the early days of the personal computer revolution.
Starting in the 1970s, a group of engineers and entrepreneurs in the region began developing personal computers, which at the time were a new and emerging technology. These early pioneers, including Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, founded companies like Apple and Hewlett-Packard, which would go on to become two of the most successful technology companies in the world.
This trend would continue through the 1980s and 2000s as more and more companies would find their start in the valley. But it was during the 2010s that brought a shift toward AI. This came with rapid innovation due to new technologies, further unlocking the power of AI. Since then, companies like Google, Facebook, and Tesla have been investing heavily in AI research, and they have made significant progress in developing new AI technologies. Because of this infusion of capital, Silicon Valley is still the center of innovation, constantly evolving.

Databricks is the developer of Delta Lake, an open-source project that brings reliability to data lakes for machine learning and other cases.
